Why'd You Come In Here Looking Like That - Dolly Parton

Written by Bob Carlisle and Randy Thomas

Like "Jolene," this is a Parton song about another beauty who looks so good she might take Dolly's man without trying.  (What do these women look like, that they can make Dolly Parton look plain?)  As with so many of songs of this ilk, the man in question's loyalty is more of an issue that the potential lady's desirability: "He's got a wandering eye and a traveling mind / Big ideas and a little behind."  This is a fun, punchy country song with plenty of verve and energy.  I love the vivid line "Why'd you come in here looking like that? / When you could stop traffic in a gunny sack / Why, you're almost giving me a heart attack."  Fun fact: master instrumentalists Béla Fleck, Jo-El Sonnier, and Ricky Skaggs all play on this track.
