Salt Peanuts - Dizzy Gillespie

Salt Peanuts - Dizzy Gillespie
3:17
single, 1945
Written by Dizzy Gillespie and Kenny Clarke, 1941

This bebop tune, also called "Salted Peanuts," was featured on the 1955 compilation album Groovin' High, but from what I can find, this is probably a 1945 recording with Charlie Parker on alto sax.  Al Haig also contributes an understated, virtuosic piano.  The song is a contrafact of the Gershwins' "I Got Rhythm."  As was common with jazz and blues of the time, the only lyric is a repetition of the title, here in a mischievously sotto voice, as a counterpoint to the melody.
