The manouche jazz king restrains his usual virtuosity on this one and presents it as a haunting, slow tune. When Django takes a solo, there are a lot of spaces between the notes, letting each phrase hang in the air rather than rushing to fill the silence. The effect is dreamy and almost nonchalant, as though the music has nowhere in particular it needs to go.
