Present Day Memories, 2001
Written by Brendan Kelly, Chris McCaughan, and Neil Hennessy
This fiery punk song gives me Rancid vibes, in a good way. It starts with a melodic opening on the bass against a guitar onslaught, before Brendan Kelly's ragged vocals kick in with the first verse. Lyrically, it's impressionistic, suggesting images of soldiers killed in action, forgotten towns, kids with no community, and people mindlessly watching TV while empty inside. "There's a girl in this town who doesn't know I exist / There's a wounded sense of pride and a pain in my fist / There's twelve empty bottles on this table tonight / There's four lungs on fire and four burning eyes."
