The Bravery, 2005
Written by Sam Endicott
This is dance-rock, or some folks might call it post-New Wave. It's as if the Strokes liked synths and drum machines more than rock and roll swagger. Sam Edicott's vocals are, to my ears, imitations of Robert Smith and Julian Casablancas; he sounds as if he's bored or aware of the affectation. This song went to number 7 in the UK, but it's not for me; I'm not too into overly-produced, glossy, assembly-line rock. I like it a little raw, with the mistakes kept in.
